According to a survey conducted in July 2024, almost ** percent of people in Japan that engage in fandom activities (oshikatsu) stated that they supported artists the most. Artists were followed by virtual YouTubers, which are commonly referred to as VTubers, as well as idols and games.
Oshikatsu, a combination of the words oshi (a favorite member of a band, sports team, etc.) and katsu (activity), describes fan activities aimed at supporting a favorite personality, character, or object.
