The values shown include all domestic transport emissions. They do not include international aviation and international maritime transport, nor do they include emissions associated with the production of electricity used for transportation (e.g. trains, tramways, electric vehicles). WEM = Projections 'with existing measures';Â WAM = Projections 'with additional measures'. The 'with existing measures' scenario reflects existing policies and measures, whereas the 'with additional measures' scenario considers the additional effects of planned measures reported by Member States.

Transportation sector GHG emissions projections in the EU-27 1990-2040, by scenario
In 2023, European Union transportation sector greenhouse gas emissions were estimated to have fallen *** percent from 2022 levels, to *** million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. Although EU transportation sector emissions are projected to fall over the coming decades, they are not expected to drop below 1990 levels until 2032Â under a "with existing measures" scenario.
