During this same period, forests in Indonesia absorbed **** GtCO₂e. This represents a net carbon source of **** GtCO₂e. The dominant driver of forest-related GHG emissions in Indonesia is commodity driven deforestation. Indonesia recorded one of the largest areas of primary tropical forest loss worldwide in 2022.
