Annual emissions from the European Union's power sector decreased by around *** million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCOâ‚‚e) between 2013 and 2023. Several factors affected emissions from this sector during this period, but the biggest overall contributor was the increased change in the share of renewables, which accounted for three-quarters of reductions during this period.Â
