A survey conducted in Japan in September 2023 showed that a combined share of **** percent of the respondents in their thirties had heard about the metaverse or knew about it to varying degrees. The share was lower among other age groups. The term "metaverse" is frequently used today to refer to an immersive virtual world in which internet users can interact with each other in the form of avatars.
