Black people applying for credit in the United States in 2025 had higher denial rates than any other group. That year, ** percent of black respondents had their loan applications denied or approved for less money than requested. Those rates were significantly higher than for White applicants, as just ** percent of them had their applications denied or approved for less money than requested. Applicants in the lowest income group got denied more than applicants in the highest income group, regardless of their race.
