According to a survey conducted across Europe in 2020, smokers aged above 55 years of age had the highest share of ever trying to give up smoking, with ** percent having attempted to quit more than a year ago and ** percent had tried to quit in the last 12 months. On the other hand, around a fifth of smokers aged between 15 and 24 years of age had attempted to quit in the previous year.
