In 2019, almost half of all adults in Poland were reported to have hypertension, the highest share across the shown European countries. Croatia, Romania, Hungary, and Lithuania also all had relatively high prevalence of hypertension. Hypertension is one of the world's leading risk factors for death and disability. It can lead to heart attack, kidney damage, stroke, heart failure and others.
