According to a survey carried out in Europe in 2020, the United Kingdom had the highest proportion of smokers who had ever tried to quit the habit, with ** percent of smokers attempting to quit in the last 12 months, and ** percent having had attempted to quit prior to that. Across the whole of the EU and the UK, ** percent of smokers had attempted to give up smoking in the previous year.
