A survey conducted in early 2024 revealed that the majority of top editors in news brands in South Africa were people of color, whereas in the United States the percentage of top editors of color was fell under 30 percent for the first time since 2021. In Brazil and Germany, none of the news brands covered in the report had a person of color working as a top editor at the time of survey.
