The source specified the following information: "The sample does not include territories that are temporarily not controlled by the authorities of Ukraine - the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was conducted only in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities."
Nearly one half of surveyed Ukrainians believed that the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine represented a real threat to their country's security in the winter and spring of 2022, according to a poll conducted in December 2021. At the same time, over 40 percent of respondents believed there would be no invasion from the Russian side.
The presence of 100 thousand troops from Russia near its border with Ukraine was reported by Ukrainian and Western officials in November 2021. The following month, the Russian government demanded a binding guarantee from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that the bloc would not expand to Ukraine. In a survey conducted at the end of 2021, nearly 60 percent of Ukrainians favored their country's NATO accession.
