Since 2008, the proportion of people declaring themselves more inclined to purchase a product if it had been produced in France has increased by ** points, reaching ** percent in 2020. The sanitary crisis seems to have accentuated this need for local consumption, and many French people are willing to defend small businesses. A large majority of them also consider that consuming products made in France is important to support the national economy. It is therefore not surprising to find that a large proportion of French people claim to be vigilant about the food they eat in order to support the local economy. Moreover, it seems that these issues gain in importance with age: this vigilance was of essence for ** percent of people over 65 years old, compared to ** percent of year olds.
