Norwegian politics were thrown into crisis in January 2025, when the Centre Party left the coalition government with the Labour Party after a dispute over the implementation of EU directives. Since then, however, the country has seen the surprise comeback of former Prime Minister and NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg as the Minister of Finance, and an improvement of Labour’s popularity in the polls. Much is at stake in the upcoming parliamentary election in 2025. After the populist Progress Party was leading the polls for several months, it now looks like the Labour Party may win another term in office.
