Parliamentary election in Denmark 2022 - Statistics & Facts
Initially, the parliamentary election in Denmark was scheduled for 2023. However, after the Social Liberal Party in October 2022 threatened to call a vote of non-confidence on the minority Social Democratic Government unless the incumbent Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen called a snap election, an election was announced for November 1, 2022. The main reason behind the threat of a vote of non-confidence was Fredriksen's decision to cull all of the country's mink population in 2020 due to fears of a mutated variant of the coronavirus (COVID-19). At the time of the decision, Denmark had the largest mink population in the world. The ruling was later found to be without a legal mandate, and it was later revealed that the Prime Minister and several of her employees had deleted key messages from their phones.
