Global hotel chain Marriott accounted for properties worldwide in 2025, up from *the previous year. The increase in properties from 2015 to 2016 can most likely be explained by Marriott’s acquisition of Canadian chain Delta Hotels and American chain Starwood Hotels and Resorts, in the years 2015 and 2016, respectively. Marriott increased its international presence outside of the U.S., with over 3****properties in international locations in 2025.Â
Continuously expanding hotel portfolio
With over properties in its portfolio, Marriott is one of the largest hotel chains in the world. Competitor Hilton had around *** fewer properties in 2025. Meanwhile, fellow U.S. hotel chain Wyndham Hotel Group led the 2025 ranking of the top hotel companies by number of properties, accounting for  units in its global portfolio.
