This chart shows the main French-based creole languages in the world in 2020, according to the total number of speakers. Haitian Creole was the most spoken French-based creole language in the world, with more than 14 million speakers.
Creole languages are languages that emerge from the contact of several different languages. French-based creole languages generally include vocabulary based on the French language but a grammatical structure based on the native languages of the country where the creole language appeared.
