The data in this chart show the proportion of people proficient in French in sub-Saharan African countries in 2022. Among these countries, six had a population that was at least half French-speaking in 2022. The two most French-speaking territories were Mauritius and Gabon, followed by Congo and Seychelles, then the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Djibouti.
