As of 2023, Blast Furnace-Basic Oxygen Furnace (BF-BOF) accounted for around ** percent of global steel production output. With the steel industry looking to decarbonize, Electric Arc Furnaces and Direct Reduced Iron's (DRI/EAF) share of steelmaking is projected to grow from ** percent in 2023 to nearly ** percent by 2050. DRI/EAF has a significantly lower production carbon intensity than BF-BFOF.Â
