According to a survey conducted in February 2024, 27 percent of adults in the United States strongly agreed that social media companies should have the right to regulate what content users can post on the platforms. Relatively more Democrats than other voters agreed that social media platforms should be able to limit user-generated content (UGC): 36 percent of Democrats respondents reported they strongly agreed with the idea of social media companies limiting the content that users were allowed to post. In contrast, only 20 percent of Republicans agreed strongly on giving the right to social media platforms to restrict what users can post.
