As of 2022, some ** million metric tons of carbon dioxide were captured by CCUS worldwide from fossil fuels and industrial processes. Should all announced COâ‚‚ capture capacity be realized, this total would increase to *** million metric tons by 2030. Of this total, a quarter would be captured from the industry sector. In the NZE Scenario, CCUS would account for roughly eight percent of total COâ‚‚ reductions from 2022 through to 2050.Â
