In a survey carried out in 2025, less than 25 percent of respondents in Brazil said that they were in favor of abortion legalization. Almost two thirds of the people interviewed, 66 percent, were against the legalization of this procedure. In Brazil, abortion is punished with a jail sentence, unless it falls under one of the three decriminalized cases: rape, life risk of the pregnant person, and fetus anencephaly.
