Wind energy in Germany - statistics & facts
Germany is one of the largest wind energy markets worldwide. In 2023, the country ranked third in terms of installed wind capacity, only after China and the United States. Today, wind is the largest source of electricity generation in Germany, including renewable and non-renewable energy sources. In 2023, almost 27 percent of Germany’s electricity was produced from wind. The technology is a key component of the energy system and is expected to become even more crucial as the country progresses towards its 2045 net zero goals.
