In 2023, the combined amount of electricity generated from both onshore and offshore wind energy in Germany totaled *** terawatt hours, with *** terawatt hours from onshore farms and ** terawatt hours from offshore sites. At that time, onshore wind power increased by some **** percent from the previous year. The majority of electricity was generated from onshore wind power, offshore wind power only added a noteworthy amount from 2013 onwards.
