Wind energy in Spain - statistics & facts
Spain is one of the leading wind energy markets worldwide. In 2023, it was among the countries with the largest wind energy capacity, ranking fifth after China, the United States, Germany, and India. With more than 30 gigawatts installed, wind is the largest source of electricity in the Mediterranean country. In 2023, wind turbines generated more than 60 terawatt hours of electricity, accounting for over 23 percent of the country's electricity mix. In fact, Spain is one of the countries with the highest wind energy penetration, ranking third after Denmark and Ireland in 2022.
