This statistic shows the results of a survey conducted to establish the average number of transactions per person per day in Euro area countries in 2016. As can be seen, in all but two countries in the Euro area the use of cash was still more prevalent then card payments with a Euro area average of 1.2 transactions per person per day. The Netherlands was the only country reporting that used cards more often than cash for transactions with an average of 0.8 transactions per person per day in 2016.
