In 2024, amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israel faced a prolonged cyber-offensive. That year, the national cyber directorate recorded over 17,000 incidents, marking a concerning increase of more than 30 percent compared to the previous year. Intriguingly, this period of heightened cyber threats coincided with Google's announcement of the acquisition of Wiz, a home-grown cybersecurity startup specializing in cloud security, in March 2025. The five-year-old firm was sold for an outstanding $32 billion U.S. dollars, setting a new record for both an Israeli firm and Google.
