Monday Night Football on ESPN averaged 15.8 million viewers in the United States during the 2025 NFL regular season. This marked an increase from the previous year, but remained below the figure from 2023, when viewership stood at 17.36 million.
Sunday, Monday, happy nights
The NFL has primetime games that are broadcast across the entire United States by one major network on Thursday night, Sunday night, and Monday night – these games start at around 8:30 pm Eastern Time. Sunday Night Football consistently remains the most viewed NFL broadcast in the United States, with average viewership reaching 23.5 million in 2025.
TV networks pay top dollar
The NFL generates an estimated 10 billion U.S. dollars per year from broadcasting rights deals, a figure that has increased significantly over the years. As part of this deal, which is set to run until 2033, ESPN/ABC hold the rights for Monday Night Football at an average annual cost of 2.7 billion U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, the average annual value of NBC/Peacock's contract to broadcast Sunday Night Football stood at two billion U.S. dollars. Â
