This statistic shows the number of payments per capita in Luxembourg from 2010 to 2020, by type of payment service. In 2020, approximately 33 transactions in direct debits were made in Luxembourg per capita. The most payments, however, were made with e-money with 7059 payments per capita in 2020. Like in other European countries, credit and debit cards are a popular form of digital payment methods for either physical purchases in brick-and-mortar-stores or for online purchases in the Benelux region.

In 2019, Luxembourg had approximately 338 card payments per capita compared to 204 in Belgium and 294 in the Netherlands. Consumers from the Benelux are familiar with the use of credit cards. Domestic uses, however, appear to be few due to the presence of other popular payment services, with credit cards generally being used for specific situations such as online shopping or foreign travels.
