In Dutch supermarkets, which make up approximately ** percent of all payment transactions in the country, ** percent of all payments were done by debit card. In the second quarter of 2018, the share of NFC payments of all debit card payments was approximately ** percent. NFC payments were introduced in the Netherlands in 2014. It mainly involves contactless payments made at points of sales, with either a debit card, a mobile phone or payments via QR codes.
