Italy is one of the main wine exporters in the EU, but its twenty regions are not equally involved in the wine export. In the regional ranking of 2025, Veneto ranked first with an export value of around *** billion euros. Tuscany and Piedmont followed as the other two regions with an export value exceeding *** billion euros.
The performance of these regions has surely had an impact on the increasing value of exported wine over the last few years. The value of wine export went from *** billion euros in 2014 to around billion euros in just a decade. As far as bottled wine is concerned, the export value increased from *** billion euros in 2012 to about *** billion euros in 2023.
The increase in export value concerned both red and white wines, regardless of the quality labels used. The most significant increase could be seen in white wine with a Protected Designation of Origin label, as its export value went from *** million euros in the first half of 2012 to *** million euros in the same period of 2023.
