In 2024, the most popular method of payment for online purchases in Denmark and Norway was by card, at ** and ** percent, respectively. Swish, the local mobile payment system, was the most popular payment option in Sweden, with ** percent of Swedish respondents using it. 

Online shopping in the Nordics 

Nordic countries have seen an increase in internet purchases over the past few years. Over ** percent of northern consumers shopped online in 2023. In 2024, the most commonly purchased products in the Nordics were clothing & footwear, home electronics, and beauty products. That year, Amazon was the most popular marketplace in all four countries, used by around ** percent of northern online shoppers. The German fashion giant Zalando came close behind with a share of ** ±è±ð°ù³¦±ð²Ô³Ù.Ìý

Sweden is the Northern outlier

Among Nordic citizens, Swedish shoppers spent the most on online purchases, with an e-commerce revenue of about ***billion euros in 2024. Second in the Nordic e-commerce revenue ranking came Norway (****billion euros), followed by Denmark (****billion euros), and lastly Finland (*billion euros). Domestic sellers continue to remain strong in the northern region, for example nearly ***percent of Norwegians who made online purchases bought goods from national sellers in 2023.
