Citation formats

From the fifth week of 2020, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus pandemic a global public health emergency, stockpiling per household in the United States had increased signficantly compared to 2019: the Numerator Stockpiling Behavior Index for pantry filling which indicates a weekly spend 1.5 times higher than the average, grew from about 100 index points (i.e., the base index) at the end of January to approximately 160 points by the middle of March. Stockpiling behavior in the United States was far less dramatic after the initial wave and had even gone below 100 points by the end of 2020.
