The PSOE won in almost all the autonomous communities where elections were held in 2019. However, since they did not achieve an absolute majority, alliances with regional parties became essential to secure entry into the respective autonomous parliaments, especially in Cantabria, the Valencian Community, or the Canary Islands. In contrast, the elections held from 2020 onwards were much more satisfactory for the PP, as both Madrid and Galicia are two of the autonomous communities traditionally more inclined to vote for the blue party.
