Evolution of electricity prices by production method Worldwide 2009 ; 2019
This chart represents the price of electricity as produced by new power plants worldwide in 2009 and 2019, according to the production method, in U.S. dollars per megawatt-hour. While in 2009 photovoltaic solar energy was still the most expensive among the listed production methods, it becomes the least costly to produce in 2019. Wind power also becomes much less expensive between 2009 and 2019. However, nuclear is the only production method whose cost increases between the two dates.
