LNG market in Europe - statistics & facts
LNG accounts for more than 40 percent of natural gas supply to Europe. Since the Russia-Ukraine war, the role of LNG in Europe’s energy industry has grown tremendously. Though countries like Spain and the United Kingdom already had a well-established LNG infrastructure, since 2022 other European countries, chief among them Germany, have begun investing heavily in terminals and regasification units. Already, European countries have become some of the world’s major LNG importing countries.
