The 2025 ranking by Reporters Without Borders ranked Norway as the country where press freedom was most respected. On a scale from 0 to 100, the Kingdom of Norway scored 92.31. The first non-European country was New Zealand in sixteenth position. France was in 25th position with an index of 76.62, placing it in the "rather good situation" category. The situation is considered problematic for press freedom when a country records an index below 70; below 55, the situation is considered difficult, and below 40, very serious. Eritrea is ranked last in this ranking with almost non-existent press freedom.
