This statistic shows the countries with the least perceived media freedom according to citizens of those countries worldwide in 2018. The findings reveal that just ** percent of respondents from Gabon agreed that their media has a lot of freedom, making it the country with the least perceived media freedom in the world. Whilst agreement that media freedom in their country was low among several African countries, Singapore, Ukraine, Belarus and Turkey also featured in the ranking, with fewer than ** percent of respondents in each country perceiving their media to have a good amount of freedom.
