With a rate of 24 per 10,000 inhabitants, divorced French people under 65 years old have attempted suicide three times more than married or civil union partners, whose rate is 8 per 10,000 inhabitants. The suicide attempt rate is ultimately much lower for people over 65 years old, and it is higher if they are divorced or widowed.
