The World Health Organization (WHO) states in its constitution that, 鈥渉ealth is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.鈥 Thanks to advances in medicine, wider access to health care services, and increased awareness of health risks among the public, people today tend to live longer and have healthier lives than in the past. There is now a stronger focus on healthy living and disease prevention than ever before, and technology has greatly improved access to medical treatment and enhanced care. However, disparities in health and health care still exist around the world, especially based on geography and wealth. Furthermore, people around the world continue to engage in behavior that puts their health at risk, and stigma around certain health conditions, especially involving mental health, keeps people from seeking or accessing the care and treatment they need.
