According to a recent forecast, lithium-ion batteries in Europe and other regions of the world (excluding North America and China) will be undersupplied by 2030. Despite nickel-based cell supply being slightly above demand, the gap between demand and supply for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells is projected to be as wide as ** gigawatt-hours in North America and *** gigawatt-hours in Europe. By comparison, LFP supply will surpass demand by over *** terawatt-hour in China, the only country in the world where battery production will not fall short of supply.
