According to a survey conducted in Japan from October to November 2025, ** percent of male and ** percent of female VTuber fans aged 15 to 19 years old rather watched clipped or edited videos of VTubers. Watching live streaming videos was more common among older age cohorts.
The word "VTuber," a short form for "virtual YouTuber," refers to video content creators that use computer-generated avatars. The term was coined by the Japanese VTuber Kizuna Ai and has also been used for similar content creators of other video platforms
