According to a survey that was conducted among VTuber fans in Japan in November 2023, almost ** percent of the female respondents stated that they liked the VTuber agency Nijisanji. While the support for Nijisanji was considerably smaller among male respondents, men tended to favor the agency Hololive more than women did. This strong contrast was likely due to differences in content, as the majority of VTubers at Hololive are female VTubers, whereas Nijisanji features a similar share of male and female VTubers. The word "VTuber," a short form for "virtual YouTuber," refers to video content creators that use computer-generated avatars. The term was coined by the Japanese VTuber Kizuna Ai and has also been used for similar content creators of other video platforms.
