Main causes of e-commerce first party misuse increase worldwide 2025
According to a global survey of e-commerce merchants, consumers learning how to "game the system" was the most common reason for first party misuse (FPM) increase, with ** percent reporting this reason in 2024. The increase in e-commerce sales followed, with over ** percent of fraud and payment professionals mentioning this as a driving factor of the FPM increase. During the same year, refund/policy abuse was the most common type of fraud.
