Lump sums are granted for three types of claims: death, disability, and end of insured status.
 A person covered under the Social Security Act is an employee over the age of 15 and less than 60 years old who contributes to receiving benefits.  A person who reaches the age of sixty and has been employed by the employer under this Act will be considered an insured.
