From the moment Thai citizens are born, they are entitled to the healthcare 鈥済olden card,鈥 also known as the country鈥檚 universal coverage scheme (UCS). Funded by tax revenue, the UCS is one of the three healthcare schemes covering most of the population in Thailand. With a unique 13-digit identification number, Thai citizens can receive medical treatment in public hospitals for a voluntary fee of 30 Thai baht. With extensive health coverage, Thailand鈥檚 life expectancy ranked second among the ASEAN countries after Singapore, with an average of nearly 80 years. Moreover, the GDP contribution from the health and social work sector amounted to more than 471 billion Thai baht in 2023 and may continue to rise in the upcoming years.
