A person covered under the Social Security Act is an employee over the age of 15 and less than 60 years old who contributes to receiving benefits.  A person who reaches the age of sixty and has been employed by the employer under this Act will be considered an insured.

In 2023, nearly *** million insured individuals who contributed to Article 33 of the Social Security Act in Thailand were in the manufacturing industry. In that year, the number of compulsory insured individuals under Article 33 of the Social Security Act in the country reached nearly **** million.
The Social Security Act section 33 requires employees to contribute to a social security fund an amount equal to five percent of their salary, up to a maximum contribution of *** Thai baht per month. Employers and the government are also required to contribute an equal amount.
