However, the majority of the WHO's funding comes from voluntary contributions from member states and other United Nations organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and philanthropic foundations such as the Gates Foundation.

Citation formats

In 2024-2025, the United States contributed a total of 752 million U.S. dollars to the World Health Organization (WHO). The majority of these contributions were voluntary contributions, accounting for around 491 million dollars, while assessed contributions* made up the other third.

In January 2025, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the U.S. from the WHO, which came into effect as of February 2026.
