Global health outcomes have improved significantly in recent decades. Life expectancy at birth has gone from roughly 46 years in 1950 to 73 years in 2025. However, longstanding health challenges remain prevalent and newer threats place additional strains on public health. Moreover, the global burden of disease is starkly unequal, with the most affected countries overwhelmingly located in Sub-Saharan Africa, and those with the highest life expectancy found mostly in Europe and among wealthy countries in Asia.
