Reasons for not notifying consumers about data breach U.S. 2023-2024
In a survey conducted between July 2023 and June 2024 among small companies in the United States, 47 percent said they did not notify consumers about data breach incidents because there was no risk of identity theft or fraud. Additionally, nearly four in 10 said they postponed the data breach notification following the advice of law enforcement.Â
