This statistic is based on about 68,150 paid, regulated long-term care services providers serving about 7.3 million people in the United States. Long-term care services were provided by 4,100 adult day services centers, 11,400 home health agencies, 5,200 hospices, 1,200 inpatient rehabilitation facilities, 350 long-term care hospitals, 15,600 nursing homes, and 28,900 assisted living and similar residential care communities.

The total number of LTC providers has changed compared to 2012. This was due to decreases in the number of adult day services centers, nursing homes, and home health agencies, while hospice providers and residential care communities saw an increase in the number of providers.
